The Pack Report: Friendly Faces & Weekly Vibes

A collage featuring the AKC most popular breed, the French Bulldog; the rare breed of this week, the Mudi dog; the ASCPA poison control hotline number with a yellow warning sign, an emergancy vet sign, vet clipboard, a bottle of pills and small green toxic vial; and pet health monitoring tech.

Weekly Highlights:

This week we wrapped up our first booking with Incas, the tiny toy poodle who lives with his mom at her assisted living facility, and completed our first visit with Cookie and Tribble - Cookie the senior Havanese preferred a quick front‑yard potty break before returning to bed, while Tribble the younger Bichon mix proudly took me on a full neighborhood tour. We also spent time with Louie, the ever‑sweet Boykin spaniel mix, and closed out the week with Poppy the yellow lab as we explored more of her Potomac neighborhood together.

Business Updates:

This week’s behind‑the‑scenes work was all about strengthening our website’s SEO so local pet parents have an even easier time finding us online.

Sniffs & News: This Week's Top Stories

Poison Prevention Week

In recognition of National Poison Prevention Awareness, we want to share a quick reminder about keeping pups safe from common household toxins. Last year we had our own scare and ended up calling the ASPCA Poison Control hotline—they were incredibly helpful, coordinating directly with our local vet and guiding us through exactly what our dogs needed. If you’d like a deeper dive into puppy poison safety and what to do in an emergency, look out for Monday's blog post with everything pet parents should know.

AKC News

This week, the American Kennel Club released its annual breed popularity rankings. For the fourth year running, the French Bulldog holds the #1 spot as America's most popular dog. Labrador Retrievers hold second, followed by Golden Retrievers. Notably, the Dachshund climbed to 5th place, it's highest ranking in over twenty years!

The Humanization of Pet Care

Industry reports released this week highlighted that 2026 is seeing a massive surge in pet wellness tech! There was a noted increase in smart collars, with more owners using GPS and biometric monitors to track their dog's heart rate and activity levels. Functional nutrition, treats that act as supplements for joints, anxiety and more, are now outperforming traditional reward treats.
